About Scythe scoring

Scythe (Jamey Stegmaier, Stonemaier Games, 2016) ends the moment a player places their sixth star, and the final count is in coins. Each player keeps the coins in hand and then earns coins for three things, at a rate set by their position on the popularity track: with popularity 0 to 6, stars are worth 3 coins, territories 2 and every two resources 1; with 7 to 12, it is 4, 3 and 2; with 13 to 18, it is 5, 4 and 3. The structure bonus tile adds a few coins more.

Territories need care: a territory is yours if your unit stands on it, or if your structure is there and no enemy unit is. Lakes count, home bases do not, and the Factory counts as three territories. The app asks for your popularity first and then values the stars, territories and resources with the tier it sets, so the three multipliers are never looked up by hand.

Ties follow the rulebook’s order, starting with the most workers, mechs and structures on the board; the app asks for the extra counts only when a tie happens.

How Scythe is scored

Scored once at the end of the game.

The rows below are the app's Scythe sheet, in the order of the game's score pad. "You enter" is the row's own explanation in the app; "Points" is what the app does with the entry.

  1. Coins

You enter: Enter the coins you have in hand.

Points: Each coin is worth 1 point.

  2. Popularity

You enter: Enter your position on the popularity track. It sets how many coins your stars, territories and resources are worth.

Points: Popularity is not points. It sets the tier for your Stars, Territories and Resources:

    • 0–6 popularity → tier 1
    • 7–12 popularity → tier 2
    • 13–18 popularity → tier 3
  3. Stars

You enter: Enter how many star tokens you placed.

Points: What each star is worth depends on your Popularity:

    • 0–6 popularity → 3 pts each
    • 7–12 popularity → 4 pts each
    • 13–18 popularity → 5 pts each
  4. Territories

You enter: Enter how many territories you control: each one with your unit on it, or with your structure and no enemy unit. Lakes count, home bases do not. Count the Factory as 3.

Points: What each territory is worth depends on your Popularity:

    • 0–6 popularity → 2 pts each
    • 7–12 popularity → 3 pts each
    • 13–18 popularity → 4 pts each
  5. Resources

You enter: Enter how many resource tokens are on territories you control. Workers are not resources.

Points: What each resource is worth depends on your Popularity:

    • 0–6 popularity → 1 pt per 2 resources
    • 7–12 popularity → 2 pts per 2 resources
    • 13–18 popularity → 3 pts per 2 resources
  6. Structure Bonus

You enter: Enter the coins the structure bonus tile gives you. Your structures count even on territories you do not control.

Points: Each coin is worth 1 point.

  7. Workers, Mechs & Structures

You enter: Count your workers, mechs and structures on the board.

Points: Not added to the total; breaks ties only.

  8. Power

You enter: Enter your position on the power track.

Points: Not added to the total; breaks ties only.

Tiebreaker

If totals are equal, the player with the higher Workers, Mechs & Structures wins, then the higher Power, then the higher Popularity, then the higher Resources, then the higher Territories, then the higher Stars. The app asks for a tiebreaker row only when a tie actually happens.
