About Ark Nova scoring

Ark Nova (Mathias Wigge, Feuerland Spiele, 2021) is scored on two tracks that run towards each other: Appeal, climbing from 0 to 113, and Conservation, climbing from 0 to 41 along the same edge of the board. The game ends once a player’s two markers have crossed, and the final score is the gap between them.

Working that gap out by hand means reading the Appeal value printed under your Conservation marker, adding the Appeal and Conservation points that cards grant at game end, and remembering the Final Scoring cards, which award Conservation points, not Appeal. The app takes the five numbers from the official score pad, applies the table and shows the result for every player.

Ties are broken by the number of conservation projects a player supported, counted from the player tokens removed from the left side of the zoo board. The app asks for it only when two players finish level.

How Ark Nova is scored

Scored once at the end of the game.

The rows below are the app's Ark Nova sheet, in the order of the game's score pad. "You enter" is the row's own explanation in the app; "Points" is what the app does with the entry.

  1. Appeal Points

You enter: Enter your position on the Appeal track at the end of the game. Between 0 and 113.

Points: Each Appeal point is worth 1 point, and the two Appeal rows are added together. Your Conservation then sets how many points are taken off.

  2. Conservation Points

You enter: Enter your position on the Conservation track at the end of the game. Between 0 and 41.

Points: The three Conservation rows are added together, and the total takes points off your Appeal: 114 with no conservation, 2 fewer for each of the first 10 and 3 fewer for each one after that. More than 41 counts as 41.

  3. Final Scoring Cards

You enter: Enter the Conservation points gained from Final Scoring card(s). You must have at least one of them.

Points: The three Conservation rows are added together, and the total takes points off your Appeal: 114 with no conservation, 2 fewer for each of the first 10 and 3 fewer for each one after that. More than 41 counts as 41.

  4. Appeal From Cards

You enter: At game end, some cards award extra Appeal points. Add them up and enter the total here.

Points: Each Appeal point is worth 1 point, and the two Appeal rows are added together. Your Conservation then sets how many points are taken off.

  5. Conservation From Cards

You enter: At game end, some cards award extra Conservation points. Add them up and enter the total here.

Points: The three Conservation rows are added together, and the total takes points off your Appeal: 114 with no conservation, 2 fewer for each of the first 10 and 3 fewer for each one after that. More than 41 counts as 41.

  6. Supported Projects

You enter: Enter the number of Conservation projects you supported. You can check this by counting the player tokens removed from the left side of the zoo board.

Points: Not added to the total; breaks ties only.

Your score is the difference between the two tracks: the app looks up the Appeal value that matches your Conservation points (0 to 41) in the rulebook's end-game table and subtracts it from your total Appeal. A player whose markers never crossed ends below zero, exactly as in the game.

Tiebreaker

If totals are equal, the player with the higher Supported Projects wins. The app asks for a tiebreaker row only when a tie actually happens.
